My second visit to the BSO’s OrchKids was just as enlightening as my first. I love this program in Baltimore-my hometown. Speaking with Program Coordinator, Rafaela Dreisin this time around, I was reminded of the challenges of arts partnerships in the US these days. “In creating relationships with schools it is important to let them know that you are a committed partner and in it for the long haul,” Rafi said. With arts funding being cut across the board, many optimistic startup programs have been short-lived and left disillusioned and wary administrators in their wake. “The kids need to know that you will be there.” Indeed, they do.
